Equipment Student Manager Information
Student managers for TCU Athletics are critical to the daily operations and success of each team and the equipment department. These individuals provide assistance with equipment care and maintenance, practice set-up, laundry, and occasionally travel with teams providing assistance on road trips. Our goal is to assign student managers to sports they enjoy as they will commit a great deal of time and energy to these teams. Coaches and athletes recognize the importance of these student managers and treat them as a valued part of the staff team.

Student Manager Positions are extremely limited due to the success of TCU Athletics, however, if positions are available, we will work on setting up an interview time with you to provide more information about the positions available.
Student Manager Opportunities
TCU On-Field/On-Court Manager is required to work all practices, games, and training camps (this includes, pre-season, regular season, and postseason). Each manager is assigned a specific position/area of interest within the assigned sport that they will work with for the duration of the season. It is their duty to check with the coaches/staff to see what they will need for daily practices and competition. This job requires the most time commitment which includes nights, weekends, holidays, and travel.
TCU Inside Managers assist equipment staff in daily equipment duties. These duties include, but not limited to, the receiving and inventory of incoming athletic apparel, assisting in travel preparation for all athletic teams, and daily equipment maintenance. This position works approximately 15-20 hours per week in any of our three equipment rooms.
Laundry Managers are responsible for laundering all athletic apparel used on a daily basis in their assigned equipment room. They oversee the collection, sorting, washing, handling, and distribution of said apparel. This position works 2-3 days per week. The laundry is done in the evenings with a starting time of approximately 6pm. Based on the load count, this job fluxuates on the ending time.
Student Manager Requirements:
- Must be a CURRENT or INCOMING full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours per semester)

Student Manager Benefits
Being a Student Manager is an opportunity to be actively involved with TCU Athletics on a first hand basis. As part of our program, student managers will have the opportunity to travel with teams on road trips, and gain insight into the daily activities required for operating a collegiate athletic program. Student managers also receive athletic apparel and footwear for all work.
Student Manager Compensation
Managers HIRED and EMPLOYED by the TCU Equipment Room are compensated using a graduated pay scale shown below. We reward longevity and commitment to the programs with monetary increases each year. Two semesters equal one year of service regardless of fall or spring starting date. On-field managers earn more due to the time commitment required to that particular sport.
***Managers hired by a specific sport outside of the equipment room are compensated on the agreed upon pay scale between the prospective student manager and sport in which they work.***

Student Manager NCAA Regulations
A manager is an individual who performs traditional managerial duties (e.g., equipment, laundry, hydration) and meets the following additional criteria: The individual shall be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student (see Bylaws 14.1.8.2 and 14.1.8.2.1.4), except that during his or her final semester or quarter of a degree program, he or she may be enrolled in less than a full-time program of studies, provided he or she is carrying (for credit) the courses necessary to complete the degree requirements;
a) The individual may participate in limited on-court or on-field activities during practice (e.g., assist with drills, throw batting practice) or competition (e.g., assist with warm-up activities) involving student-athletes on a regular basis;
b) The individual shall not provide instruction to student-athletes;
c) The individual shall not participate in countable athletically related activities (e.g., practice player) except as permitted in Bylaw 11.01.6-(b);
d) In baseball, the individual shall forfeit any remaining eligibility in the sport at the institution at which the individual serves as a manager. (Adopted: 4/29/10 effective 8/1/10); and
e) Any individual that is associated with a prospect (IAWP - any person who maintains contact with a men's basketball prospective student-athlete, the prospective student-athlete's relatives or legal guardians, or coaches at any point during the prospective student-athlete's participation in men's basketball, and whose contact is directly or indirectly related to the prospective student-athlete's athletic skills and/or NCAA eligibility) is prohibited to be employed by the University and Athletic Department.
