TCU And ESPN Radio Agree To Three-Year Deal
March 21, 2001
FORT WORTH, TEXAS TCU athletic broadcasts will have a new home beginning in the fall of 2001, as the Horned Frogs have signed a three-year contract with ESPN Radio, TCU Athletics Director Eric Hyman, ESPN Regional Senior Vice President Pete Derzis and ESPN Radio 103.3 FM Station Manager Tyler Cox jointly announced today.
The agreement calls for TCU football and men's basketball games, as well as weekly football and basketball coaches' shows to be aired on ESPN Radio 103.3 FM, a 100,000-watt station in the Metroplex and the newest all-sports station in the market.
"TCU Athletics is excited to be a partner and linked with ESPN Radio," said Hyman. "The ESPN brand name is recognized by all in our profession and this association will continue to assist our growth in the Metroplex. We are looking forward to expanding our fan base by exposing a whole new sports-minded audience in the Metroplex to TCU Athletics," added Hyman.
"This is just another extension of the partnership between ESPN and TCU," said Derzis. "Our goal is to offer TCU the full strength of ESPN's brand and we feel by adding ESPN Radio we have taken the next step."
"The fit between TCU's athletic program and our commitment to providing quality sports programming for the Metroplex is a natural," said Cox. "As we build our local programming lineup to complement the programming from ESPN, the addition of TCU's football and basketball programs made sense."
"One of the aspects of our programming strategy is the development of key local play-by-play product," said ESPN 103.3 FM Program Director Scott Masteller. "TCU football and basketball will be a great addition to the station."
ESPN Regional is the multi-media rights holder of TCU Athletics and provides Frog fans with state of the art broadcasts via the TCU/ESPN Regional Sports Network. ESPN Radio 103.3 FM is owned by ABC Radio, the parent company of WBAP 820 AM, KSCS 96.3 FM, KMEO 96.7 FM, and Radio Disney 620 AM.
