TCU Football Radio Broadcasts Cited For Excellence
March 13, 2003
Play-by-play radio broadcasts of TCU Football have been honored as the number two sports play-by-play broadcasts in the state of Texas, according to the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters.
The Horned Frogs' broadcasts on KESN (103.3 FM) and KTCU (88.7 FM), featuring Brian Estridge and John Denton, finished behind only the Dallas Stars broadcasts of Ralph Strangis and Daryl Reaugh on WBAP in the "Sports Play-by-Play" category. They were deemed the best collegiate play-by-play broadcast in the state. Houston Astros' broadcasts on KTRH in Houston, featuring Milo Hamilton and Alan Ashby, received honorable mention acclaim.
"It's an honor to be ranked among the state's best, along with the Dallas Stars and Houston Astros," said Estridge, the Voice of the Horned Frogs. "It's another testament to what (TCU Athletics Director) Eric Hyman is working to accomplish, with TCU Athletics becoming nationally-recognized in every facet."
The award winners for the 2002-03 radio and television contests will be presented on Saturday, April 12, at a banquet at the Austin Marriott North at Round Rock. This year's TAPB contest drew 1,072 entries: 246 on radio and 826 on television.
