Naismith Sportsmanship Tour Hits Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Naismith Sportsmanship Tour, which features the most important document in basketball history, is on display at the Hulen Mall in Fort Worth through Wednesday. Ian Naismith, the founder of the International Basketball Association and grandson of basketball inventor James Naismith, has joined forces with TCU to provide the community with a chance to see the tour.
Highlighting the list of memorabilia items is the 113-year-old, two-page "Original Rules of Basketball" written by James Naismith. In addition, there are more than 100 enlarged historical photos and rare artifacts. However, the primary mission of the tour is to promote sportsmanship.
TCU is the first university in Texas to receive a visit from the Naismith International Basketball Association. Previous tour stops include the 2003 NCAA Final Four and the 2004 NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles.
The display will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Admission to the exhibit is free.
