Davis throws TCU’s first complete game since 2024
FORT WORTH – Lance Davis' complete game and timely hitting by the TCU offense led the Horned Frogs to a 3-1 win over Utah on Saturday afternoon. The victory secures the series victory and runs TCU's home winning streak to eight straight.
The Rundown
Lance Davis (4-3) was outstanding in throwing his first career complete game. The lone blemish on his line was a solo home run allowed with one out in the fourth. He battled around base runners in seven of the nine innings, but never allowed a runner to reach third base. Over nine innings, he allowed six hits, walked two and struck out four.
Utah opened the scoring with the one out solo home run in the fourth. TCU wasted little time, answering the solo shot with one of its own as Sawyer Strosnider led off the bottom of the fourth with his 13th home run of the year.
Jack Bell led off the fifth with a double and scored on a two-out single off the bat of Cole Cramer to give the Frogs a 2-1 lead.
The Utes had two base runners in the sixth after a lead-off single and a two out walk, but the runners would be stranded as Davis got a fly out to center to end the inning.
TCU added a big insurance run in the sixth to open up a two-run lead, 3-1. Chase Brunson singled to open the inning and moved to third on a Nolan Traeger base hit. Rob Liddington singled to drive in Brunson.
