Frogs score three two-out runs in the eighth
FORT WORTH – Cole Cramer's two-out single completed a furious three-run, two-out rally in the eighth to help TCU complete the sweep of Texas Tech with a 5-4 win on Sunday at Lupton Stadium.
The Rundown
Facing a 4-2 deficit in the eighth, the Horned Frogs staged a furious rally with three two-out runs to take a 5-4 lead. A very wild pitch allowed Nolan Traeger to scamper all the way to third with only one out. Pinch hitter Kyuss Gargett delivered a two-out base hit to pull the Frogs within one, 4-3.
Jack Bell followed with a hit and Colton Griffin worked a walk to load the bases. Cole Cramer's seeing-eye single bounced through the left side, tying the game at four. On his attempt to round third and score, Bell bumped into the third baseman. Obstruction was called and Bell was awarded home to give the Frogs a 5-4 lead.
Noah Franco (1-0) set the side down in order in the ninth with a pair of strikeouts around a ground out to secure the win. He allowed a hit and struck out two in his 1 1/3 innings on the mound.
TCU opened the scoring in the second. Traeger led off the inning with an infield single and moved to second on a wild pitch. Bell put the Frogs on top 1-0 with a two-out base hit.
