Three Horned Frogs qualify for the finals
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Rylie Passmore claimed the PRC Smallbore individual title, highlighting a strong day on the range for No. 4 TCU. The Horned Frogs sit second after Day 1 of the Patriot Rifle Conference championships after firing a smallbore team score of 2,361. That mark is tied for the sixth-highest score in program history.
Passmore earned TCU's 10th individual conference title. She claims TCU's third individual smallbore crown, joining Elizabeth Marsh (2018) and Stephanie Grundsoee (2021).
The finals were full of dramatics as Katie Zaun and Passmore were tied after 45 shots. In the shoot off, Passmore fired a 10.1 to claim the title. Alexandra Rosenlew also qualified for the finals and finished seventh.
Nebraska paced the field, shooting a 2,364 in smallbore. Ole Miss sits third after firing a 2,357. Alaska (2,338) is fourth, followed by Ohio State (2,327), Air Force (2,324) and UTEP (2,316).
In the opening relay, Passmore matched her career high, shooting a 592. She has eclipsed the 590 plateau in six of her last seven matches. Mikole Hogan fired a 582. Not factoring in the team score was Christina Hillinger's 579.
The Frogs closed out the day with an outstanding performance in the second relay. Zaun matched her career high, shooting a 596. It's the sixth time in her career she has reached that plateau. Rosenlew shot a career-high 591 in the match. It's the fourth time in her career she has fired a 590 or better. Marissa Fedora was slated to shoot in the final relay, but a gun malfunction in sighting forced her to miss the relay.
The Championships conclude on Sunday with air rifle. The first relay is slated to begin at 8 a.m. (CT).
