
TCU Sweeps Western Big 12 Awards for January

Cassie Hacking named Big 12 Rider of the Month for Reining, Piper Keller tabbed for Horsemanship
IRVING, Texas – Following a double-digit victory over UC Davis to open up the spring slate, TCU freshman riders Cassie Hacking and Piper Keller have earned monthly honors from the Big 12, the conference announced on Thursday.
The Horned Frogs defeated seventh-ranked UC Davis, 14-4, on January 29, and the two freshmen earned points to help lift TCU to a 7-1 advantage in Western.
Being named Big 12 Reining Rider of the Month for the second time of the season, Hacking scored a 71.5 to win her point and earn the highest score of a TCU rider in the event. The Weatherford, Texas, native is now 3-3-1 in her first season as a Horned Frog.
Keller is being tabbed with her first award following her performance against UC Davis where she earned her first career MOP honor after turning in a score of 77.5 on Hector to defeat her opponent by five points. She was the high-point scorer in the event from either team by two. For the season, the El Reno, Oklahoma, native is now 4-3 in Horsemanship.
The seventh-ranked TCU equestrian team is back in action this weekend, facing No. 10 South Dakota State and Delaware State beginning on Friday at 8 a.m. in Brookings, South Dakota.
