Kendrick Wins 200m and 400m at UW Invite

FORT WORTH – Racing at the UW Invite and Robert Platt Invitational, TCU track and field secured four event wins on Friday night.
Out in Seattle, Ronnie Kendrick crossed the finish line first in the 200m and 400m to lead the Frogs. His time of 46.58 in the 400m currently ranks 14th in the nation.
On the women's side, Tia Williams picked up a second-place finish in the women's 400m dash with the sixth fastest time in school history (53.45), and Georgia Scott posted a 2:06.25 PR to take third overall in the 800m. She also ranks third in the TCU record book in the event.
Down in Houston, Camryn Kirkland spearheaded a one-two-three finish in the 1000m. The junior transfer finished in 2:53.63, making her the fifth-best indoor performer in program history. Freshman Megan Calhoun followed very closely with a 2:53.68 (No. 6 all-time at TCU) and Mckenzie Bailey rounded out the top three in the event.
Junior Samarra Monrroy also cruised to an event win in the 400m at the Robert Platt Invitational. She finished just ahead of teammate Laila Smith, who placed second.
For the men, Jayden Douglas grabbed second in the men's 400m.
In the sprint events, a total of nine Frogs advanced to Saturday's semifinals. Indya Mayberry took the top qualifying spot in the 60m dash. She is one of four women who will represent TCU in the event. Four men also punched their ticket to the semis in the 60m, led by Sanjay Salmon.
Amari Kiluvia was the lone athlete to run the 60m hurdles for the Frogs. She sits in fourth after the first round and looks to advance to the finals for the second time this season.
TCU resumes action on Day 2 of both meets on Saturday, January 31.
