Ekdahl Earns Second Straight Big 12 Diver of the Week Honor

Horned Frog diver captures another recognition
FORT WORTH – For the second consecutive week David Ekdahl has been named the Big 12 Men's Diver of the Week, the league announced Thursday.

The Malmö, Sweden, native earned a pair of victories on 1-meter and 3-meter in a dual meet against Texas Permian Basin, securing NCAA Zone qualifying marks in both events. On 1-meter, Ekdahl pulled in a 370.95 to win the event, and on 3-meter he eclipsed the 400-point mark for the first time this season, notching 414.90 points to earn the springboard sweep.

This occasion marks Ekdahl's third weekly conference award this season and second in as many weeks. The distinguished diver currently holds the school record on both 1-meter (419.80) and 3-meter (430.20) and has earned 11 Big 12 weekly honors for his career.

Ekdahl and the Frogs will head south to Houston for the Big 12 East Championships, where they will compete against a variety of teams in the Big 12 from Jan. 16-17.
