The junior has earned spots on four national award watch lists
BALTIMORE – TCU quarterback Josh Hoover has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Hoover is coming off a record-breaking season in which he set TCU's single-season passing record with 3,949 yards as a sophomore. His 66.5 (313-for-471) completion percentage ranked third all-time, while his 27 touchdown passes were tied for fourth all-time. Hoover was one of just four quarterbacks nationally to average 300 yards passing per game (303.8) and have a passer rating of at least 150 (151.1).
He enters the season ranked sixth all-time at TCU with 6,157 yards passing. His 449 career completions also rank sixth all-time, while his 43 career touchdown passes are tied for fifth. The Heath native owns a career completion percentage of 64.8, which ranks second all-time.
Now in its 39th year, the Golden Arm Award continues to honor excellence both on and off the field. The award is presented by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation in partnership with A. O. Smith Corporation, whose mission aligns with the Foundation's commitment to advancing the game of football while promoting character, leadership, and academic achievement among young athletes.
As the 2025 college football season unfolds, the watch list will be narrowed to semifinalists, finalists and one standout quarterback will take home the Golden Arm Award in December. The winner will be celebrated at our annual Golden Arm Award ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Johnny Unitas' hometown of Baltimore—an unforgettable night honoring leadership, legacy, and the best in college football.
