Strosnider ties school-record with ninth triple of the season
TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 24 Arizona rallied with four unanswered to top TCU 5-4 Saturday night at Hi Corbett Field. Three Horned Frog errors led to a pair of Arizona runs. In the loss, Sawyer Strosnider tied TCU's single-season record with his ninth triple.
The Rundown
Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the third. The Wildcats loaded the bases with one out. A bouncer on the infield allowed the go-ahead run to score. Caedmon Parker got a ground out to leave the bases loaded.
The Frogs took the lead with four runs in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. A hit batter, a walk and an Isaac Cadena base hit loaded the bases with nobody out. Karson Bowen tied the game with a one-out single. Anthony Silva scampered home on a wild pitch to give the Frogs a 2-1 lead. Sawyer Strosnider followed with a two-run triple for a 4-1 lead.
Parker held down the fort into the six. The Wildcats cut into the TCU lead with a two-out run in the sixth. With one out in the seventh, the wheels came off. After a hit batter, TCU had a chance to turn an inning-ending double play, but a high throw kept the inning alive. With runners on the corners, a base hit turned disastrous as two errors allowed the Wildcats to tie the game at four.
Another miscue in the seventh helped the Wildcats load the bases with one out. Trying to get the lead runner at second for out No. 2, the ball got away allowing all runners to be safe. A walk loaded the bases with one out and a sacrifice fly put the Wildcats in front 5-4.
Parker went 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits. He walked one and struck out one. Cohen Feser (1-2) took the loss after allowing an unearned run on two hits in 2/3 of an inning.
