TCU wide receiver drafted in the third round
FORT WORTH -- TCU wide receiver Savion Williams was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday evening.
Williams was the second Horned Frog receiver chosen on the night as Jack Bech went in the second round to the Las Vegas Raiders. TCU now has six active wide receivers in the NFL as Bech and Williams join Derius Davis, Quentin Johnston and Jalen Reagor of the Los Angeles Chargers and KaVontae Turpin with the Dallas Cowboys.
Williams was All-Big 12 this past year as he enjoyed a second straight career-best season with 60 receptions, 611 yards and six touchdowns. He became the first Horned Frog with a receiving, rushing and passing touchdown in the same year since Kenny Hill in 2017.
Williams led TCU in rushing in four of the final six games, totaling 310 yards and six touchdowns on a 6.5 per carry average in that span. He ran for a career-high 80 yards and two touchdowns in the 49-28 victory over Arizona. The second score was a 20-yard carry on a 4th-and-1 with 13 seconds left in the first half, giving TCU a 21-13 lead at the break.
Arizona Head Coach Brent Brennan said of Williams, "Where did they find that guy? Oh my gosh, what a stud. He's so powerful and so strong."
Williams tied a career-high with 11 receptions for 85 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown on TCU's first series, in the season-opening 34-27 win at Stanford. He had a career-long 75-yard touchdown reception and a career-best 35-yard scoring run in the 35-34 victory over Texas Tech.
Williams is the first TCU player drafted by Green Bay since safety Vernon Scott went in the seventh round in 2020.
