Freshman garners second all-conference weekly honor
FORT WORTH – After earning two event wins over the weekend at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, TCU freshman Indya Mayberry was named Co-Big 12 Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Racing against a stacked field, Mayberry turned in two of the No. 1 times in the nation in the 100m dash and 4x100m relay to claim her first outdoor weekly honor and the second Big 12 weekly award of her career (Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Feb. 12). It also marks the second straight week a Horned Frog has won the award after London Tucker was honored last week.
Running the 4x100m relay with her teammates Iyana Gray, Tucker and Teanna Harlin, the Frogs combined to run a 42.87, the top time in the NCAA this season, a new TCU school record and the No. 2 time in 2025, only trailing Australia's 4x100m relay. The Frogs were sitting in third at the final handoff, but Mayberry breezed by Texas and Clemson to run away with the race.
Later in the afternoon, Mayberry raced in the 100m dash final. The Fort Worth native won her second event of the day, taking the sprint title with a 10.91 (3.9 wind).
With her help, the TCU women checked in at No. 4 in the first USTFCCCA National Track & Field Rating Index rankings of the outdoor season. Mayberry and the Frogs are back on the track on April 5 in Denton at the Bill Schmidt Invite hosted by UNT.
