Frogs nine game Big 12 winning streak snapped
ORLANDO, Fla. – TCU's nine game Big 12 winning streak was snapped as UCF evened the series with a 5-1 win Friday night at John Euliano Park. Chase Brunson tripled as part of a two-hit night and drove in the lone run of the night for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
TCU squandered a golden chance to get on the board first as it loaded the bases on two hits and a walk with nobody out. The Knights worked out of the jam with a strikeout and a double play ball.
UCF translated that momentum into the bottom of the inning, taking the early lead. Two walks set the stage for a two-out double and a 1-0 Knight lead. They added two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to extend their lead to 4-0.
The Frogs finally got on the board in the sixth. Sawyer Strosnider led off the inning with a triple and scored on a two-out triple from Chase Brunson. UCF got the run back with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the inning.
Mason Bixby started and recorded four outs. He walked four and struck out two. Braeden Sloan (3-2) took the loss after giving up four runs on four hits. He walked four and struck out three. Kaden Smith pitched two innings, allowing a run on two hits. He struck out two. Nate Stern worked around a lead-off walk and struck out two in his only inning of work.
