Franco homers in addition to starting on the mound
The Rundown
Two big innings for Arizona State ultimately sunk the Horned Frogs. After taking a 3-1 lead on a Noah Franco home run in the fifth, the Sun Devils struck for six in the top of the sixth. The first five hitters in the frame reached. A wild pitch and a bases-loaded walk tied the game. A sacrifice fly followed by a three-run home run made it a 7-3 ballgame in favor of Arizona State.
TCU cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning, 7-5, on a two-out, pinch-hit double off the bat of Brody Green.
Arizona State carried the two-run lead into the ninth where it exploded for five runs. A two-out grand slam ultimately proved to be the difference in the game.
The Frogs rallied with five runs in the bottom of the inning. Six straight Frogs reached with one out. Cole Cramer started the parade of hitters with a double and scored on a Franco base hit. Sawyer Strosnider tripled home two runs. Two batters later, Jack Arthur tripled home two more runs to make it a 12-10 ballgame. Anthony Silva grounded out to drive in Arthur to account for the final score.
Franco started for the Frogs and turned in 4 2/3 innings. He allowed a run on three hits, walked one and struck out five. Louis Rodriguez (1-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on three hits in 1/3 of an inning.

11 – The ninth inning saw a combined 11 runs scored. Arizona State scored five times in the frame while TCU tallied six runs.

With the loss, TCU falls to 14-6 and 1-2 in Big 12 play. TCU will hit the road for four straight games starting Tuesday night at nationally-ranked Dallas Baptist. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
