Rifle Sits Fourth After Day 1 at the NCAA Championships

Zaun earns a bronze in smallbore
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The TCU women's rifle team fired a team score of 2,335 in smallbore and sits fourth after Day 1 of action at the 2025 NCAA Rifle Championships in Lexington, Ky. Katie Zaun qualified for the individual finals and earned a bronze medal.
In the opening relay of the championships, the Horned Frogs sent their trio of All-Americans to the line. Zaun led the group with a 589. Mikole Hogan fired a 585 and Christina Hillinger shot a 573.
Micah Hames and Rylie Passmore took their turn in the second relay. Hames contributed a 581 and Passmore a 580 to the team score.
In the individual finals, Zaun went shot for shot with her fellow competitors. She fired a 453.6 in the finals with 37 center shots to take home bronze.
Alaska Fairbanks took home the smallbore crown with a team score of 2,355 followed by Kentucky (2,354) and West Virginia (2,350). In fifth was Ole Miss (2,333) followed by Georgia Southern (2,333), Murray State (2,322) and Air Force (2,321).
The championships will conclude Saturday with the air rifle portion of the competition. Relay one is set to get under way at 7:45 a.m. (CT).
