TCU Splits Day One in Honolulu

Bradley and Izuzquiza notch their first ranked collegiate win
HONOLULU, HAWI'I – No. 2 TCU split its first day of competition at the OUTRIGGER Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic.
The Horned Frogs fell to No. 3 UCLA, 4-1, but bounced back against No. 5 Stanford, to finish the day with their first ranked win of the season. TCU downed the Cardinal 3-2.
Maria Gonzalez and Allanis Navas were the only pairing to down the No. 3 Bruins, which marked the pairing's first collegiate win together.
Kaitlyn Bradley and Sofia Izuzquiza notched their first ranked win of their collegiate careers against No. 5 Stanford. Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno bumped their all-time win history as a pairing to 88 with their point against the Cardinal.
QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 3 UCLA
• Kaitlyn Bradley and Sofia Izuzquiza fell to Cooper/Moore at the No. 5 spot, 21-15, 21-13.
• UCLA's Van Winkle/Fernandez took the second point over Anete Namike and Olivia Clines at the No. 4 spot, 21-17, 21-15.
• From the No. 2 spot Hailey Hamlett and Anhelina Khmil fell to Brennan/Myszkowski: 21-17, 29-27.
• Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno fell to the Bruins' Perez/Boyd in a close three-set match at the No. 1 spot, 21-18, 13-21, 13-15.
• Maria Gonzalez and Allanis Navas scored the one point for TCU against UCLA's Brower/Alden from the No. 3 spot, 19-21, 21-12, 15-13.
• The win marked their collegiate pairing debut, along with their first ranked win as a pairing.
• The point over the Bruins is Gonzalez's 43rd ranked win, Navas's 40th.
• TCU is now, 2-6, in all-time records against UCLA.
QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 5 STANFORD
• From the No. 1 spot Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno scored the first point against Stanford's Rockwell/Sorra, 21-17, 21-10.
• This marked the duo's 89th win together for TCU, and their first ranked win of the season.
• Kaitlyn Bradley and Sofia Izuzquiza downed Morris/Vincent from the No. 5 spot, 21-15, 21-16.
• This marked both Bradley and Izuzquiza's first ranked collegiate win in their careers.
• The point over the Cardinal is the first win for the duo.
• At the No. 4 spot Olivia Clines and Emma Glagau fell to Hoffman/Stowell, 21-13, 21-14.
• Hailey Hamlett and Anhelina Khmil clinched the match for the Horned Frogs at the No. 2 spot against Wilson/Bell, 21-18, 21-17.
• This marked the duo's 14th time to score the clinching point for the Frogs.
• TCU improved its all-time record against Stanford to 4-2.

No. 2 TCU moves to Day Two of the the OUTRIGGER Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. The Horned Frogs start Friday off with No. 7 LMU at 4:15 p.m. CST. After, they face their first Big 12 matchup of the season against No. 11 Arizona State at 8:00 p.m. CST.
