TEAM NOTES
CB Channing Canada
- TCU won the toss and elected to defer.
- Tonight's attendance at the Alamodome was 55,741.
- Ken Seals was named Offensive MVP and Kaleb Elarms-Orr was named Defensive MVP.
- TCU moved to 3-0 in the Valero Alamo Bowl, also winning the game in 2015 and 2017. The Horned Frogs trailed by double digits in each of them.
- The Horned Frogs moved to 4-2 all time against USC, with this being the first meeting since 1998 in the Sun Bowl.
- TCU has won seven of its last eight bowl games and is 3-0 under Sonny Dykes.
- TCU scored in its 420th consecutive game, the second-longest streak in NCAA history – trailing only Florida (472).
- Under Sonny Dykes, the Frogs moved to 30-5 when scoring 30 or more points and 30-4 when leading at halftime.
- TCU had multiple interceptions for the fifth consecutive bowl game.
- The win marked TCU's second ranked victory of the season (No. 24 Houston on Nov. 22). Prior to the win over the Cougars, the Horned Frogs had not defeated a ranked opponent since the 2022 Fiesta Bowl.
- TCU went to overtime for the first time since the Big 12 Championship Game against Kansas State on December 3, 2022. It was the Horned Frogs' first overtime victory since October 15, 2022 against Oklahoma State.
- Jeremy Payne's touchdown was the first walk-off score for the Horned Frogs since a walk-off field goal to defeat Baylor on November 19, 2022.
CB Channing Canada
- Had the first interception of the season and just the second of his career.
- Had the first rushing touchdown by a TCU freshman in a bowl game since Andy Dalton in the 2007 Texas Bowl.
- Eclipsed double-digit tackles for the sixth time this season.
- With seven tackles on the day, reached 302 total for his career.
- Recorded his fifth interception of the season in the first quarter, the most on the team. The five are also the most by a Frog since Bud Clark had five in 2022.
- Had first rushing touchdown as a Horned Frog, and the fourth of his career (three at Vanderbilt).
- Also had the second passing touchdown of his TCU career.
- Started for the first time since November 11, 2023 against South Carolina while playing for Vanderbilt.
