TCU’s 544 total yards were a season-high.
FORT WORTH – Following a season-best offensive performance to wrap up the regular season on Saturday, the Horned Frogs received a bevy of awards on Monday, including a first for one of the team's most unheralded groups.
In the Big 12's final weekly awards, sophomore running back Jeremy Payne earned his first career Offensive Player of the Week honor for his breakout performance. Payne's seven touches in the game's first 13 plays were a sign of what was to come as he posted 174 yards on 26 carries, the most by a Frog since Kendre Miller ran for 185 at Texas Tech in 2021. His 218 yards from scrimmage were the most by a TCU running back since Robert Merrill tallied 231 at Houston in 2003.
The performance also marked the second consecutive 100-yard game for Payne, the first time TCU has seen a player do that since Emani Bailey in 2023.
It's the third Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award for TCU this season as Payne joins quarterback Josh Hoover (Colorado) and Eric McAlister (SMU) on the list.
Sticking with Big 12 honors, the Horned Frog offensive line was named the league's Offensive Line of the Week for their efforts paving the way for Payne and the running game. TCU's 238 rushing yards led the Big 12 on Saturday as four different runners averaged over four yards per carry: Payne (6.7), Trent Battle (5.5), Nate Palmer (4.1), and Franklin Estrada II (4.0).
It's the first time this season TCU has been recognized with the award.
Back at quarterback, Hoover picked up his second weekly honor from the Davey O'Brien Award as one of their "Great 8." Hoover was surgical in the 2025 regular season finale, throwing for more touchdown passes – four – than incompletions – three – on 19-of-22 passing for 306 yards. It was Hoover's 16th game, in 31 career starts, throwing for 300-plus-yards, the most in TCU history.
