FORT WORTH – For the second straight season, TCU quarterback Josh Hoover has been named to the 2025 Davey O'Brien QB Class, officially making the candidate list for the nation's oldest and most prestigious QB award, the Davey O'Brien Foundation announced on Thursday.
So far this season, Hoover has thrown for 2,371 yards and 22 touchdowns with just six interceptions. His yards and touchdown figures rank third in the nation this season. He also has eclipsed 300-yards passing in three games this season and has thrown for three or more touchdowns on five separate occasions.
The Heath native has earned a multitude of honors this season, including Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after the Colorado game and Manning Award Star of the Week and the Davey O'Brien Great 8 Award after the victory over SMU.
For the fifth straight year, fan voting on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) will earn players bonus selection committee votes during the semifinalist, finalist and winner voting rounds. First-round fan voting will begin immediately following the QB Class announcement. The 2025 Davey O'Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN on Friday, Dec. 12, during The Home Depot College Football Awards.
The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award.
