Sophomore earns conference weekly honor after guiding TCU to two wins
FORT WORTH – Cameron Patton of the No. 9 TCU women's soccer team has been tabbed as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Patton was a key contributor in TCU's two victories this past week, earning assists in both matches. Against No. 10 Baylor, Patton posted her first assist in the 27th minute, feeding in a beautiful ball to Seven Castain to give the senior her second goal of the match.
Moving forward to Sunday, the sophomore capped off her impressive two-game stretch with another assist, this time to Grace Vest in the second half to give the freshman the first goal of her career.
This marks the first Big 12 weekly award for Patton's career, as she was also named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team in 2024.
This marks the second time this season Patton has tallied assists in back-to-back appearances, as the sophomore did so earlier this season in wins over Gonzaga and Utah. The Austin, Texas, native now has five assists on the year and 10 for her career.
Patton and the rest of the TCU women's soccer team will be back in action tomorrow night as they are set to take on Arizona at 9 p.m. in Tucson.
