Frogs welcome Archer, Coleman and Murphy
FORT WORTH – Following a third straight NCAA Tournament appearance, head coach Jason Williams bolstered his roster with the additions of three mid-year signees Rosemary Archer, Samara Coleman and Lauren Murphy.
Two Texas natives, Archer and Murphy, return to the Lone Star State to join the Horned Frogs along with Coleman, one of the top high school players in the state. The trio looks to get to work with their teammates this spring and help TCU continue its emergence on the national stage in volleyball.
"This 2025 group is a transformational recruiting class for the program," said Williams. "We are super excited about what this class brings, but more importantly the quality of character and human beings that they are. The addition of Samara last minute was a pleasant surprise as we always love adding a first team All American. This group is going to help take TCU Volleyball to a place it hasn't gone to before."
Rosemary Archer | 6-0 | Setter | Fairview, Texas
A junior from Fairview, Texas, Archer played two seasons at Pepperdine, where she recorded over 1,000 assists, 250 digs, 41 blocks and 33 aces. She saw limited action as a freshman, appearing in 16 matches in a reserve role. After not playing in her sophomore season, Archer had a massive 2024 season, ranking 98th nationally with 970 assists on the year while helping lead the Waves to a 17-11 record.
Archer graduated from Lovejoy High School in 2022. A four-year letterwinner, she helped lead her team to three consecutive State Championship titles. A coveted recruit at setter and outside hitter, Archer was ranked 15th nationally in the PrepVolleyball top 150 list while also earning a spot on the Volleyball Magazine Fab 50. As a senior, she garnered AVCA, MaxPreps and Volleyball Magazine High School All-American honors in addition to Dallas Morning News and VYPE DFW Setter of the Year laurels.
At the club level, she trained at the USA Volleyball National Team Development program and was a member of the JVA National Team. In 2021, Archer helped her squad to a USA Volleyball Nationals bronze finish at the 17 Open and a fifth-place result at the 18 Open USA Volleyball Nationals.
Samara Coleman | 6-1 | Outside Hitter | Spring, Texas
Ranked as the No. 11 player in the nation of 2025 by PrepVolleyball.com, Coleman comes to TCU after an illustrious high school and club career. One of the top talents in Texas, she is a four-time All-State honoree and was a member of the AVCA Phenom watchlist in 2022 and 2023.
Boasting over 1,600 kills in her high school career, Coleman was an elite attacker at Grand Oaks High School, proving pivotal in back-to-back state titles and a 159-33 record. Over her four years with the Grizzlies, she averaged 4.4 kills per set on a .312 clip. Playing all six rotations, Coleman also totaled 987 digs, 136 blocks and 134 aces.
This past season, Coleman added All-American honors to her name, being recognized as an AVCA First Team High School All-American and MaxPreps All-American. She amassed 693 kills at an extremely efficient .332 hitting percentage while leading Grand Oaks to a 2024 Volleyball 6A D1 State Championship. As a junior, Coleman finished with 499 kills as Grand Oaks went 50-1 to win its first state title in school history. She also played club with Houston Skyline, winning bronze at USAV Nationals in 2023.
Lauren Murphy | 6-4 | Outside Hitter | Round Rock, Texas
Murphy, a Round Rock native, transfers to TCU after appearing in 41 matches at Ohio State. In her rookie season, Murphy played in 28 matches across 91 sets. She ranked second in the Big Ten in service aces (40), including a career-high seven against Minnesota (Nov. 3). Murphy also averaged 1.25 kills per set for the Buckeye offense and totaled double-digits twice. Last season, she saw a limited role with only 14 sets played.
Coming out of Round Rock High School, Murphy was a three-year letterwinner playing outside, right side and middle blocker. She tallied 809 kills in her three seasons, including a whopping 533 in her junior campaign where she earned all-district, all-league and all-state honors. A highly touted prospect, Murphy attended the USA Volleyball National Team's Development Program in 2022 and was ranked as one of the top 150 players in the class of 2023 by PrepVolleyball.
She also played club with Austin Juniors, winning the 2021 USAV 16 American National Championship and being named MVP of the championship.
