Led the league in scoring, rebounding and blocks in Frogs' wins at Kansas and Texas Tech
FORT WORTH – Sedona Prince stands alone on TCU's awards mantlepiece.
Prince was named Big 12 Player of the Week for a school record fifth time in her career on Monday.
The 6-7 center is also the only active player in the conference to receive the honor five times. The accomplishment is even more significant by the fact Prince has only spent two seasons in the league. She is also the only three-time award recipient in 2024-25.
Prince topped the conference charts in scoring, rebounding and blocks for the week of Jan. 6-12. She averaged 25 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks per game to lead TCU to consecutive road wins at Kansas and Texas Tech.
Originally from Liberty Hill, Texas, Prince put up a monster 30-point, 14-rebound double-double in the Horned Frogs' 80-73 takedown of the Jayhawks. Prince netted 20 of her points in the first half. She is now one of just three players in America who has collected at least 30 points and 12 rebounds in multiple games this year.
Prince followed up the performance with another double-double, this time tallying 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks at the expense of the Lady Raiders. Her efforts propelled TCU (17-1, 5-0 Big 12) to a 69-43 victory and its first 5-0 start to conference play since 2000-01.
She was the lynchpin behind perhaps TCU's best defensive performance in a Big 12 game in Lubbock. TCU set a program record for fewest points allowed in a Big 12 road game and notched 10 blocks vs. a Big 12 foe for just the second time ever. The Horned Frogs also held a Big 12 opponent to five-or-fewer points in multiple quarters of the same game for the first time ever.
Prince has been at her best in conference play in a TCU jersey. She has produced a double-double in seven of her 10 career Big 12 regular season games. Ahead of the Horned Frogs' Tuesday night tilt vs. UCF, Prince is averaging 21.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game in conference play.
She continues to lead the nation in blocks (62, 3.7 bpg) and is one of only two players in America averaging at least 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocks per game.
TCU was tabbed 10th in The Associated Press poll on Monday, good for the program's second top 10 placement and the second-highest ranking in program history.
The Horned Frogs face the Knights (7-8, 0-5 Big 12) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
