TCU takes on Stanford Friday night at 9:30 on ESPN
By: Kennedy Knisley
For TCU safety Bud Clark, striving for greatness extends beyond football—it's rooted in his role as a father to his one-year-old son, Kenzo. As Clark enters his senior season, Kenzo is his biggest motivation, inspiring him to excel both on and off the field.
TCU's family-oriented environment has been crucial in helping Clark balance the demands of fatherhood and football. "I get calls all the time asking about my son, about me and my family, and vice versa," says Clark. The sense of community provides the support Clark needs as he navigates his roles as an athlete and a father.
Clark returned to TCU for his senior year with clear goals and a desire to continue growing. "I wasn't ready for the NFL yet, but I felt like this was the only place that could get me ready," he reflects.
Beyond personal accolades, Clark aims to leave a lasting legacy at TCU. "I just want to be the happiest guy around campus, bringing energy everywhere I go," he says. His vibrant personality impacts his teammates and his coaches.
His leadership style is influenced by fatherhood, teaching him patience and resilience—qualities he brings onto the field. "I have people (on the team) that look up to me, but I want them to look at me as the same," Clark explains. "At the end of the day, I'm not higher than you and I'm not lower than you, we're equal."
However, Clark's greatest aspiration is to set a strong example for his son. He hopes to pass on life lessons to Kenzo, telling him, "Be who you are. Don't change for nobody." As Clark works toward his goals this season, he remains dedicated to showing that true greatness comes from commitment in every aspect of life.
