Frogs score three in the 11th
WACO, Texas – TCU fought back from an early 6-1 deficit to pick up a 9-7 win in 11 innings Saturday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark. Logan Maxwell led the offensive charge with five outs, while the bullpen held Baylor to just one run in 10 innings of work.
The Rundown
TCU completed its comeback with a run in the sixth after Peyton Chatagnier tripled and scored on an Anthony Silva ground out to tie the game at six.
Chatagnier's lead-off single in the 11th had the Frogs in business. A line drive to short turned disastrous for the Bears as the throw to try and double off the runner at first worked its way into the dugout for a two base error. Sam Myers delivered the go-ahead base hit through a drawn-in infield. With runners on the corners, Kurtis Byrne hit a sacrifice fly. A two-out single from Luke Boyers made it a 9-6 ballgame.
Baylor hit a lead-off home run in the 11th, but Ben Abeldt came on and retired three straight to pick up his second save in as many days and his sixth of the season.
The pitching duo of Kole Klecker and Zachary Cawyer (6-1) did yeoman's work after taking over in the second with the Frogs facing a 6-1 deficit. Klecker tossed four hitless frames, walked two and struck out six. Cawyer's only blemish in five innings of work was the home run in the 11th. He surrendered just three hits and fanned six to earn the win.
After Logan Maxwell gave the Horned Frogs a 1-0 lead with a two out home run in the first, Baylor stormed back with six unanswered. The Bears took a 2-1 lead on a bases-loaded double in the first. Two home runs and a triple accounted for a four-run second.
Back-to-back doubles in the third from Maxwell and Byrne started the Frogs on the comeback trail. A two-run home run from Silva and a solo shot from Byrne made it a 6-5 ballgame after four. The comeback was complete in the sixth.

10 - The pitching trio of Kole Klecker, Zachary Cawyer and Ben Abeldt tossed 10 innings of relief. Collectively, they allowed a run on three hits, walked two and struck out 12.
