Silva homers and drives in three
FORT WORTH – A quartet of two run innings guided TCU to an 8-2 win over New Mexico State Friday night at Lupton Stadium. The victory stretches TCU's winning streak to four games. Anthony Silva homered and drove in three to lead the offense.
The Rundown
The pitching trio of Kole Klecker, Hunter Hodges and Chase Hoover turned in a complete game effort in holding a tough New Mexico State lineup to just two runs on six hits. Klecker (1-2) allowed two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out seven. Hunter Hodges fanned five in three scoreless and Chase Hoover fanned two of the three he faced.
Walks to Anthony Silva and Brody Green followed by a double steal set the table for an early TCU lead in the third. Sam Myers' tripled to right center to give the Frogs an early 2-0 lead.
Another walk and an error proved costly for the Aggies in the fourth as it turned into two more runs for the Frogs. Jack Arthur worked a lead off walk and stole second. Karson Bowen made it all the way to third on an error by the pitcher which allowed Arthur to score. Peyton Chatagnier delivered a sacrifice fly to drive in Bowen to make it a 4-0 game.
After New Mexico State cut the deficit in half with a two run home run in the fifth, TCU responded with two in the sixth. Arthur and Bowen reached on back-to-back singles and executed a double steal. An error allowed Arthur to score. Chatagnier's two-out base hit pushed the TCU lead to four, 6-2.
Silva's two-run blast to dead center went 425 feet over the batter's eye to account for the final score.
Stat of the Game:
6 - TCU stole a season-high six bases in the game. It's the 19th time this season that TCU has stolen multiple bases in a game.

With the win, TCU improves to 30-16 on the season. The Horned Frogs continue a seven game homestand Saturday afternoon with Game 2 against New Mexico State. Zachary Cawyer will get the start for the Horned Frogs. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
