TCU wins its first-ever Penn Relays Sprint Medley Championship
PHILADELPHIA – TCU won the program's first-ever Penn Relays Sprint Medley Championship at the Penn Relays on Friday at Franklin Field.
The squad of Jayden Douglas, Kashie Crockett, Gianni Henry and Ryan Martin placed first with their time of 3:18.71. Martin's anchor leg propelled the Horned Frogs to a first-place finish.
Also having a stellar day on the track was the women's distance medley relay team that broke the school record with their time of 10:53.34. Rylan Engels, Dreunna Washington, Jasmin Muhammad-Graham and Gracie Morris placed fifth.
Iyana Gray had a stellar day in her return to Penn. Gray, who won the 2023 Penn Relays 100m Championship, placed first in the 100m prelims with her time of 11.43. She was also the anchor leg on the second place 4x100 team. Teanna Harlin, Mikayla Hayes and Breanna Harlin ran a 44.16 to punch their tickets to Saturday's finals.
The women's 4x400 team also had a stellar showing with their fourth-place finish in the prelims. Samarra Monrroy, Kelaiah Daniyan, Tia Williams and Amelliah Birdow ran the third-fastest time in program history at 3:31.62.
Samantha Callaway threw for 14.33m (47-0.25) in the women's shot put to finish sixth. Tia Williams (58.50) and Amelliah Birdow (58.80) both recorded top 10 finishes in Thursday's 400mH finals, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively.
