Offensive lineman was a two-time All-Big 12 selection
FORT WORTH -- TCU offensive lineman Brandon Coleman was selected by the Washington Commanders with the third pick in the third round of the National Football League Draft on Friday night.
Coleman, a Team Captain, was a two-time All-Big 12 selection and 2023 Honorable-Mention Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year. He started 34 of the last 35 games he played for the Horned Frogs.
During his TCU career, Coleman played every position on the offensive line except center. He made 11 starts in 2023 with seven at left tackle and four at left guard, allowing just one sack over 723 snaps. He totaled 32 knockdown blocks with an 87.0 average grade.
As a junior in 2022, Coleman started all 15 games at left tackle as the Horned Frogs reached the College Football Playoff National Championship. He placed third on the TCU offense with 1,036 snaps played, just eight behind team leader Steve Avila (1,044). He played a season-best 88 snaps in the 43-40 double-overtime win against Oklahoma State. He came back the next week with 82 snaps in the 38-28 victory over Kansas State.
Coleman was also Academic All-Big 12.
Coleman is the first Horned Frog drafted by Washington since wide receiver Josh Doctson was a first-round selection in 2016.
Under Head Coach Sonny Dykes, TCU has had nine players drafted in the last two seasons. The Horned Frogs have 24 players on current NFL rosters.
