TCU strands eight in the loss

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas held on for a 2-1 win over TCU Sunday afternoon at UFCU Disch-Falk Field to clinch the series. The Horned Frogs were held in check with just three hits on the afternoon. The TCU bullpen tossed 6 2/3 scoreless.

The Rundown
TCU struck first in the second inning. Sam Myers doubled with one out. Two wild pitches later, the Horned Frogs had a 1-0 lead.

Two walks in the bottom of the inning turned into a 2-1 Texas lead as both scored on a double off the bat of Casey Borba.

The Frogs had their chances to get back in the game. Chase Brunson was hit to lead off the third. Karson Bowen line the ball up the middle that was deflected and snagged out of midair by the pitcher and turned into a double play.

TCU's best chance to tie the game came in the seventh. Ryder Robinson singled and walks to Brunson and Bowen loaded the bases. Texas left them loaded, getting a fly out to end the inning.

Mason Bixby (1-1) started and took the loss. He allowed two runs on three walks and struck out two. Kole Klecker tossed 3 1/3 scoreless. He surrendered four hits, walked one and struck out four. Zachary Cawyer struck out three in two scoreless. Ben Abeldt recorded four outs in his time on the mound.

With the loss, TCU falls to 23-15 on the season and 8-13 in Big 12 play. TCU returns home to open up a four game homestand starting Tuesday night against Dallas Baptist. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Lupton Stadium. The game will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
