
Birdie Streak from Barroso Sá Ties TCU for Seventh at Silverado Showdown

Sophomore carded six consecutive birdies in final round
NAPA, Calif. – With TCU's NCAA Regional prospects hanging in the balance, Sofia Barroso Sá delivered.
The sophomore rattled off six consecutive birdies midway through the final round of the Silverado Showdown on Wednesday.
Barroso Sá's heater enabled TCU to hold on to a tie for seventh in a 16-team field featuring seven squads ranked in the top-30 of the Scoreboard team rankings. The Horned Frogs finished plus-19 (883) and even with No. 8 Texas on the leaderboard.
Collectively, TCU carded 12 birdies and an eagle over its final 18 holes at Silverado Resort and Spa. TCU shot a four-over 292, its low round for the tournament. Following Wednesday's showing, TCU has shot its low round score in the final round in seven of nine tournaments in 2023-24.
The Horned Frogs placed ahead of seven top-50 teams, including No. 3 UCLA, No. 16 Oregon and No. 31 Washington. No team finished under par. No. 9 USC and No. 11 Northwestern shared the tournament title at plus-four.
TCU, which entered its regular season finale 67th in the team rankings, is likely to break into the 50's or be knocking on the door of a top-60 mark ahead of the Big 12 Championship, which takes place on April 18-20 at The Club at Houston Oaks in Hockley.
Barroso Sá's birdie streak began on hole 15 and concluded at two. TCU teed off on holes five through nine as a part of a shotgun start. From Belmonte, Portugal, Barroso Sá shot a two-under 70 in the final round to tie for 23rd at plus-four (220). She was the lone Frog to score under par in a round over the three-day affair.
TCU was the only team to place all four of its golfers in the top-30 of the individual leaderboard. Meagan Winans, Lois Lau and Kirstin Angosta all tied for 27th at five-over (221). Winans collected three birdies and finished one-over on Wednesday. Lau scored par-or-better in 16 of her final 18 holes on her way to a two-over 74. Angosta was three-over and eagled 17.
Sofie Dimitrova tied for 61st at 12-over.
