FORT WORTH – No. 5 TCU extended its winning streak to 13 games with a 4-0 victory over Abilene Christian on Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Payton Tolle and Chase Brunson homered for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
Six Horned Frog pitchers combined to hold Abilene Christian to just four hits in recording TCU's first shutout of the season. Caedmon Parker (1-0) got the start and allowed two hits, walked two and struck out three in his two innings of work.
Jax Traeger, Chase Hoover and Louis Rodriguez each turned in scoreless innings. Hunter Hodges and Kyle Ayers each struck out three in their two innings on the mound.
Offensively, Payton Tolle got the Frogs started with a one-out, solo home run in the second. Chase Brunson connected on a two-run shot with two outs in the fourth to extend the TCU lead to 3-0.
The Horned Frogs tacked on an insurance run without the benefit of a hit in the seventh. Brunson walked with one out and two wild pitches later was standing on third. Brody Green's sacrifice fly made it a 4-0 game.
