LAFAYETTE, La. – Senior Gustav Frimodt finished the first day of the Louisiana Classics in third place on Monday at Oakbourne Country Club.
Frimodt had 11 birdies over the 36 holes and shot 7-under 137. He is three shots back of Michigan's Hunter Thomson and four back of the leader, Phichaksn Maichon of Texas A&M.
Frimodt shot 3-under 69 in the first round and 4-under 68 in the second round. In 17 rounds this season, Frimodt has scored at or under par in 14 rounds.
Chris Berzina shot consecutive rounds of even-par 72 to finish the opening day tied for 23rd place.
Ethan Dial shot 2-over 146 after rounds of even-par 72 and 2-over 74. The junior is tied for 27th place.
Toby Wilt is tied for 73rd place at 8-over 152 and Andrew Petruzzelli is tied for 80th with a score of 11-over 155.
The Horned Frogs shot 3-over 579 over the two rounds and is tied for ninth place. TCU will begin the final round as early as 7:39 a.m. ESPN+ will broadcast the action starting at 9:15 a.m.
