Frogs Have Strong Showing on Day Two of Big 12’s

Two school records broken in the pool
Morgantown, W. Va. – The TCU Swimming and Diving team set two new school records and earned one bronze medal on day two of the Big 12 Championships.
Kara Church brought home the bronze medal in the women's 500 freestyle swimming to a time of 4:46.12. The senior set a new school record and earned an NCAA "B Cut" in the process.
Geremia Freri beat his own standing school record with a time of 1:44.71 in the men's 200 IM. The Italian also earned an NCAA "B Cut."
THE RUNDOWN
Following an exciting morning of prelims was the men's 1 meter dive where Oliver Cazaly and Elliott Dillon finishied first and second in the b final. The pair earned zone cuts with scores of 330.40 and 312.70, respectively.
In the afternoon, the meet began with the 1 meter dive a final where Alec Hubbard represented the Horned Frogs. Hubbard placed eighth with a score of 331.50 earning his second zone cut of the day after scoring 320.10 during prelims.
Back in the pool the meet began with the women's 500 freestyle where Church placed second, Mikayla Popham fourth (4:48.92), Jordan Edwards sixth (4:50.63) and Sydney Inman seventh with a time of 4:50.76. The men's team went four, five and six with times of 4:22.35 Milan Fabian, 4:25.43 Kornel Kohalmi and 4:25.83 Aaron Wilmes. In the men's 200 IM, Luke DeMiceli earned an NCAA "B Cut" with a time of 1:46.00.
The meet concluded with the 50 freestyle where Olivia Rhodes touched the wall at 22.80 earning herself an NCAA "B Cut" in the event. Jadon Wuilliez closed out the day for the swimming team finishing sixth with a time of 19.95.
On the boards, the women's diving team of Anna Kwong, Leah Fletcher and Emma Lacarda Herrera placed sixth in the first-ever scored team diving event at the conference championships (281.50).
TCU is placed at second on both the men (428) and women's (317) side in the team standings at the conclusion of day two.
