Hoover sets TCU season record for passing yards
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Josh Hoover broke TCU's season record for passing yards and threw for four touchdowns to lead TCU to a 34-3 win over Louisiana on Saturday afternoon in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl.
The Horned Frogs started fast, scoring on their opening four possessions and five-of-six to build a 27-0 halftime lead.
TCU (9-4) closed its season with a four-game winning streak and victories in six of its final seven games.
Hoover completed 12 straight passes in one stretch and broke the TCU season mark for yards with a 20-yard scoring toss to JP Richardson with 57 seconds left in the first half to give the Horned Frogs their 27-point lead at the break. Hoover's 3,949 yards surpassed the previous mark of 3,901 by Trevone Boykin in 2014.
A dominant TCU defense limited the Ragin' Cajuns to just 209 yards with nearly half that total (96 yards) coming in the fourth quarter when the game was decided.
Eric McAlister was Hoover's favorite target with eight receptions for 87 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown in the back of the end zone on a 4th-and-goal play in the first quarter. It came after a Hoover scramble to avoid a sack.
