Frogs fire third-best air rifle mark in program history
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The No. 6 TCU women's rifle team fired its best marks of the season in both disciplines en route to a final score of 4,743, topping No. 1 Alaska's score of 4,732. The Horned Frogs shot a 2,342 in smallbore and tied for the third-best mark in school history with a 2,391 in air rifle.
The match-by-match improvement saw the Frogs establish 16 career-high marks in the match. The Frogs boasted five of the top eight aggregate scores in the match. Katie Zaun led the Frogs with an aggregate of 1,187 to finish second. She was followed by Christina Hillinger's career-high 1,185 and Mikole Hogan's 1,184. Rylie Passmore matched her career-high and finished sixth with an 1,181. Marissa Fedora was eighth, also matching her career-high with an 1,178
TCU took an early match lead, topping the Nanooks by four shots, 2,352-2,348. The Frogs turned in four of the top six marks in the discipline. Fedora led TCU's shooters with a career-high 590. She was followed Zaun's 589. Hillinger shot a career-high 587, followed by Hogan's 586. Passmore matched her career-high with a 585.
Frog shooters turned in four of the top five marks in air rifle in route to besting Alaska, 2,391-2,384 in the discipline. Zaun, Hogan and Hillinger fired identical marks of 598. The score tied Hogan's career-high high while Hillinger's was her career-best. Ziva Swick contributed a career-high 597 to finish fifth, while Passmore tied her career-high with a 596.
A trio of Frogs that did not factoring the team score also had career-days on the range. Annie Downum who fired a career-high both disciplines, shooting a 581 in smallbore and a 595 in air rifle for a career-high aggregate of 1,176. Micah Hames' fired a career-high of 592 in air rifle.
Alaska was led by Cecilia Ossi who led all shooters with an aggregate of 1,189. She boasted the top smallbore score of 593. Amanda Pettersen was the Nanooks top air rifle shooter, firing a 597. Combined with her 580 in smallbore, Swick boasted a career-high aggregate of 1,177.
TCU will wrap up its fall schedule on Nov. 16 at West Virginia.
