
TCU Tied for First Entering Final Round of Jim West Challenge

Horned Frogs shot a 14-under 562 over rounds one and two
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Horned Frogs will challenge for a tournament championship for a third straight outing.
TCU is tied for first at the Jim West Challenge following two rounds of play at Kissing Tree Golf Club.
The Horned Frogs carded a 14-under 562 over 36 holes on Sunday. TCU will enter Monday's final round level with conference rival Houston on the leaderboard.
The showing signifies the third consecutive event in which TCU has carried top-three positioning into the last 18 holes. The Horned Frogs led the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational by six strokes following round two on their way to the team title on Sept. 11 in Nicholasville, Ky. TCU sat in third entering the final 18 holes of a truncated Schooner Fall Classic two weeks later and went on to place fourth.
TCU, No. 23 in the Scoreboard team rankings, led the 12-team field with 120 pars and peppered 33 birdies across its two-round day. The Horned Frogs shot seven-under (281) in both rounds.
The Horned Frogs' 14-under 562 tied an identical mark set by the 2019-20 TCU squad at the Jim West Challenge for the third-best low-36 hole total in program history.
Four Frogs finished under par and in the top-20.
Kirstin Angosta concluded the affair at six-under 138 and is tied for second. Fellow underclassmen Camille Min-Gaultier finished one stroke behind Angosta to join a three-way gridlock for fourth.
Both Angosta and Min-Gaultier notched collegiate low-36 hole records.
Sofie Dimitrova gave TCU three players in the top-10. Competing as an individual, Dimitrova was even par in round one. The sophomore then recorded a four-under 66 – one stroke shy of her low-18 record – and moved into a tie for seventh. She carded a five-under 31 on the back nine.
Sofia Barroso Sá posted a 71 in both rounds to finish tied for 15th (-2, 142).
Gracie McGovern and Meagan Winans are tied for 30th and 38th, respectively. McGovern was even-par in round one. Winans birded three of her last five holes to finish the second round at one-under and lift TCU into a tie for first.
Angosta and Barroso Sá propelled TCU to an early lead, combining for for seven birdies on their first nine holes. TCU was tied with third-place Oklahoma (-11, 565) following the first 18 holes.
Angosta, No. 77 in the Scoreboard individual rankings, finished three-under (69) in both rounds. She used an eagle on the par-five 14th hole and a fifth birdie on 18 to take a three-under 69 into the clubhouse. The Coppell, Texas native birdied holes one and five to begin round two and played the back-nine two-under.
She has posted sub-70 scorecards in three of her last four rounds and been under par five times in TCU's last three tournaments.
Min-Gaultier was the embodiment of consistency. The freshman bogeyed just one hole. She matched Angosta's scorecard in round one. Min-Gaultier, from La Londe-les Maures, France, parlayed a two-under front nine into a second round 70 (-2).
She has been TCU's top performer in two of its last three rounds. Min-Gaultier used a round three score of three-under 67 to tie for 11th at the Schooner Fall Classic.
Barroso Sá began round two with three consecutive birdies from holes three through five. The junior has turned in a countable score in all 10 rounds this season and in 73 of her 74 career rounds played.
McGovern has been even-par in three of her last four rounds.
Winans was two-under over her last 16 holes in round two.
Barroso Sá and Winans each birdied their final hole, lifting TCU into a tie with Houston atop the leaderboard.
