Swimming and Diving Completes Day One of Texas A&M Tri-Meet

Geremia Freri and Olivia Rhodes grab individual wins
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – TCU swim and dive opened its season at the Texas A&M Tri-Meet with the Aggies and BYU on Friday afternoon. Day one of the two-day meet was highlighted by a trio of top three finishes from Geremia Freri, a race win by Olivia Rhodes and a top eight time in school history in the 100 butterfly by Nigel Forbes.

Freri led the Horned Frog men with top three finishes in all three of his races, including the only win of the day in the 200 breaststroke. He went one-two with teammate Kito Camossato as the duo led the way with times of 2:01.91 and 2:04.23, respectively. Freri also grabbed second in the 200 freestyle (1:39.72) and the 200 IM (1:48.43).

Edgar Cicanci turned in a strong 200 backstroke (1:49.35) to finish second, and Nigel Forbes recorded the eighth best 100 butterfly in school history with a 48.43, good for second. Divers Bryn James and David Ekdahl each registered third place finishes in platform (293.70) and 3m (340.90), respectively.

The men's 400 medley relay of Cicanci, Jadon Wuilliez, Forbes and Luke Dimiceli gave the hosts Texas A&M a run for its money, finishing just half a second behind the Aggies with a time of 3:16.53. The Frogs 200 freestyle relay also places second with a 1:20.06.

On the women's side, Rylee Moore grabbed a third place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.87 and grad transfer Maddy Burt secured third in her first meet as a Horned Frog, touching the wall in 55.73 in the 100 fly. Rhodes picked up the lone win for the TCU women, out-touching the field in the 50 free in 23.43 seconds.

As a team, the 400 medley relay of Moore, Nina Vadovicova, Burt and Rhodes finished third (3:44.72) behind both Texas A&M squads and the 200 freestyle relay of Rhanishka Gibbs, Burt, Lexi Drap and Karolin Victoria Kotsar also place third (1:37.20).

The Frogs are back for day two of the Texas A&M Tri-Meet on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 9 a.m. CT.
