The cap will be the first of Ryan’s career
CHICAGO – TCU women's soccer alum Yazmeen Ryan has been called up to the U.S. Women's National Team training camp for the upcoming FIFA international window. Ryan is one of 26 players named to the roster by head coach Emma Hayes. This is the first full national team call-up for Ryan.
Ryan is in her fourth year in the NWSL. In just her third professional season, she helped Gotham FC to its first NWSL Championship and her second straight championship title after winning the title with the Portland Thorns in 2022. She has registered seven goals and 10 assists in her NWSL regular season and postseason career, while also adding a pair of goals in nine NWSL Challenge Cup matches.
"We are so proud of Yazmeen," said head coach Eric Bell. "I can't think of anyone that is more worthy of this opportunity than her. A lot of people have been waiting for this for her. This has been a long time coming and that day has finally come. It's a fantastic opportunity for her to improve.
"It's also a huge day for our program. It shows that we are able to develop the caliber of player that she has become. She has had a fantastic career as a pro and as well as a great career here. I like to think we played a part in her development. It shows that we do have the pieces in place that can help players become pros and national team players."
In her time at TCU, Ryan was a four-time all-Big 12 performer and a four-time United Soccer Coaches all-region selection. She was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NWSL draft after scoring 23 goals and adding 23 assists for 69 points in her career.
