Mudzengerere places 18th overall in the triple jump
AUSTIN, Texas – Theophilus Mudzengerere earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in the triple jump in his NCAA Outdoor Championships debut on Friday night at Mike A Myers Stadium.
With his leap of 15.32m (50' 3.25") on his first attempt, Mudzengerere capped off a remarkable freshman campaign as he finished 18th overall and garnered Honorable Mention All-America. The Harare, Zimbabwe, native qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships with his eighth-place finish (15.74m) at the NCAA West Regional.
Mudzengerere placed fourth and earned a spot on the podium at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with his jump of 15.60m (51' 2.25"). Earlier this season, Mudzengerere was named the Big 12 Athlete of the Week after winning the triple jump with his leap of 15.74m (51' 7.75") at the TCU Alumni Invitational.
