
TCU Evens Series With Big Win Saturday

FORT WORTH – TCU exploded for eight runs in the eighth to break open a close game en route to a 13-4 victory over No. 24 Cal State Fullerton Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Eight Horned Frogs drove in a run in the contest.
The Rundown
TCU opened up a 4-0 lead through the first three innings. Brayden Taylor's RBI-single in the first gave the Frogs a 1-0 lead. Elijah Nunez's lead-off double in the third kick-started a three run third. Taylor collected his second RBI of the game to drive in the first run of the frame. Anthony Silva and Luke Boyers tacked on RBI-singles in the frame.
The Titans battled all the way back to tie the game at four in the fourth. All four runs came with two outs and was aided by an error.
TCU wasted little time grabbing back the lead. Silva led off the inning with a base hit and four batters later, scored on a bases-loaded wild pitch to put the Frogs back in front 5-4.
The Frogs exploded for eight runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach. With two outs, 10 straight Frogs reached and eight scored. Cole Fontenelle worked a bases-loaded walk to drive in the first run of the frame. Karson Bowen came through with a two-run single for an 8-4 lead.
Back-to-back hits from Boyers and Austin Davis pushed the lead to 10-4. After a bases-loaded walk to Nunez, Tre Richardson doubled home two more to cap the scoring.
Sam Stoutenborough started for the Frogs and allowed three runs, two earned on five hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. He fanned six and walked one. Luke Savage (2-3) picked up the win in relief. He allowed an unearned run on three hits in 3 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three. Jax Traeger fanned two and walked two in a scoreless ninth.
