Bowen and Silva homer for the Horned Frogs

FORT WORTH – Texas hit five solo home runs en route to an 8-4 victory over TCU in the series-opener Saturday night at Lupton Stadium. Karson Bowen and Anthony Silva each homered for the Horned Frogs.

The Rundown
Texas built a 6-0 lead in the first three innings. Four of the six runs came courtesy of four solo home runs.

TCU cut the deficit in half with three runs in the fourth. Tre Richardson opened the inning with a base hit and moved to second on a Brayden Taylor walk. Two batters later, Richardson scored on an Austin Davis ground out. Karson Bowen followed with a two run home run.

Both teams picked up a solo home run in the seventh as Texas continued to hold its three run cushion. Anthony Silva hit his sixth home run to straightaway center to make it a 7-4 game.

Texas added an insurance run in the ninth to account for the final score.

Kole Klecker (7-4) took the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings. Chase Hoover turned in 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. He fanned four and walked three. River Ridings contributed a scoreless eighth inning.
