
TCU’s Rally Falls Short Tuesday Night

FORT WORTH – No. 10 TCU mounted a furious rally after falling behind early, but came up a run short in an 8-7 loss to UT Arlington Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Luke Boyers tallied three hits in the game and David Bishop homered for the first time this season.
The Rundown
UT Arlington raced out to a 7-1 lead through four innings of play. Tre Richardson doubled home the Horned Frogs' first run of the game in the third. A defensive miscue with two outs in the fourth led to two unearned runs.
David Bishop led off the fifth with a home run, but UT Arlington had an answer in the top of the sixth, scoring a run on a wild pitch.
TCU crept closer with a three spot in the seventh. Austin Davis worked a bases-loaded walk. Brayden Taylor followed with an RBI-groundout. Karson Bowen's infield single pulled the Frogs within three, 8-5.
Richardson made it a two-run ballgame, 8-6, with an RBI single in the eighth. Cole Fontenelle pulled the Frogs within one with a one-out double in the ninth. The tying run advanced to third, but was stranded.
Braeden Sloan (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on six hits in 1 2/3 innings. Sam Stoutenborough fanned five in his 3 1/3 innings of work. Mason Speaker contributed two scoreless innings and Justin Hackett tossed a scoreless ninth.
