The Horned Frogs added seven high school standouts to their 2023-2024 roster
The Horned Frogs announced the additions of high school standouts Samiyah Abdur-Rahim, Jaylen Clark, Alyssa Gonzales, Eryn Jones, Lily Nicholson, Lydia Seymour and Megan Walsh to their 2023-2024 roster on Friday.
"Our staff is extremely excited about this 2023 class," Williams said. "We have players with high potential, some that are currently high-level performers, and some that are both. The passion and joy of this group is so contagious that it is hard not to be excited about them. The future is bright with the addition of these Frogs."

Samiyah Abdur-Rahim | Opposite / Outside Hitter | 6-2 | Summit, NJ
Abdur-Rahim has charted her own course on the volleyball court as one of the top outside hitters on the east coast.
She earned three varsity letters for Montclair Kimberly Academy (MKA). Abdur-Rahim filled up the stat sheet throughout her prep career, as she concluded her high school tenure with more than 700 kills and 400 digs.
Last fall, Abdur-Rahim racked up 287 kills, 161 digs, 119 service points, 67 service aces and 10 blocks to lead MKA to a Prep championship and a semifinal run in the Essex County Tournament. She garnered first team All-Prep and All-Division accolades and received All-Non-Public second team recognition.
Abdur-Rahim finished her junior season with career-highs in kills (289) and digs (198).This Jersey Girl Is All Frog 👏

She also competes on the club circuit for the New York City-based USANY and travels to camps and clinics in California. In 2022, Abdur-Rahim was named to the 18 Open All-American Team at the AAU Junior Girls' Volleyball Championships and was twice selected to compete in USA Volleyball's NTDP training series.
Abdur-Rahim is the daughter of 12-year NBA veteran and 2000 Summer Olympics gold medalist Shareef Abdur-Rahim. She is the seventh member of her family to play college sports, but the first to do so in volleyball. Her older brother, Jabri, is a 6-8 forward at Georgia. Four of her uncles also played college basketball.
Jaylen Clark | Libero / Defensive Specialist | 5-7 | Manhattan Beach, CA
Clark is the first of two California natives and defensive specialists TCU tabbed in its 2023 recruiting class.
She donned the libero jersey at national powerhouse Mira Costa High School, where she lettered all four years. Last fall, Clark helped the squad enjoy an undefeated run through conference play last fall in route to a Southern California Bay League Championship. With Clark anchoring the Mustangs' back row, Mira Costa placed second in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Open Division State Championship and concluded the fall in possession of the No. 3 overall CIF team ranking.
Clark also plays for nearby Surfside Volleyball Club. That Cali Connection 🤝

She has received a litany of individual honors across the club circuit and through USA Volleyball. Clark was recently selected to the PrepVolleyball.com Class of 2023 Club Watch List and was recognized as an Under Armour All-American. She has been named to the AVCA Phenom Watch List in three of the last four seasons (2019, 2021, 2023). In 2021, Clark obtained All-Tournament Team recognition at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships.
Surfside is an apt name for Clark's club affiliation. If the NCAA were to facilitate the inclusion of the surfing into its umbrella, Clark could easily moonlight as a two-sport athlete. She competed for the Mira Costa High School surf team her sophomore and junior years, leading the Mustangs to a Southern California Bay League title.
Alyssa Gonzales | Outside Hitter | 6-1 | Aledo, TX
The Horned Frogs kept an elite outside hitter as close to home as possible with their acquisition of Gonzales.
A 2022 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, Gonzales has lettered all four years of high school, most recently at Aledo High School, a powerhouse program across the TX UIL 5A classification.
As a senior, Gonzales laced home a team-leading 370 kills on .249 hitting to steer the Ladycats to a 31-16 overall record and 10-2 mark in district play. She also racked up a team-best 489 digs to pair with 67 total blocks and 64 service aces.
On top of her All-American credentials, Gonzales' prolific senior campaign saw her earn-District Offensive Player of the Year laurels and AVCA All-Region Team recognition.Staying home in the 817 🫡

Gonzales and Nicholson played alongside one another for Drive Nation volleyball club.
Gonzales is set to become the third member of her immediate family to play college sports. Both her parents played college basketball. Her mother, Rachelle, suited up at UC Santa Barbara while her father, Chris, starred at Westmont College before playing overseas for four years.
Eryn Jones | Opposite / Outside Hitter | 6-0 | Goodyear, AZ
Jones has built a championship pedigree over a four-year varsity run at Millennium High School in the Phoenix suburbs.
She helped the Tigers capture the 2020 AIA Girls Volleyball 5A State Championship her sophomore season. Jones became a three-time 5A Desert West Conference Player of the Year and first team All-Conference honoree in 2022, having already received the recognitions as a sophomore and junior. She was an All-Conference second team player as a freshman in 2019.
Jones capped her high school career with 1,255 kills, 955 digs, 177 service aces and 164 total blocks.
During MHS' state championship run, Jones averaged a career-best 3.8 kills per set on the strength of a career-high .298 hitting percentage. Her dominance at the pins augmented in 2021, as she torched opponents to the tune of a career-high 421 kills on her way to her second conference Player of the Year accolade. Jones was at her most versatile last fall, as she supplemented 338 kills with 311 digs and 51 total blocks, both of which were career-bests.From The Valley to The Fort 🛤️

Jones also played two varsity seasons of beach volleyball and competes in club for Revolution Volleyball Academy.
She is a dedicated student, having claimed Academic All-Conference first team honors all four years.
Jones will become the third collegiate athlete in her family when she suits up for the Horned Frogs in August. Her biological father, Ted, played basketball at Cal State Los Angeles and her stepfather, "J" Harrison, was a baseball player at Cuesta Community College and Lewis-Clark State College.
Lily Nicholson | Setter | 5-11 | McKinney, TX
Nicholson's impending arrival leaves TCU sitting pretty at setter for the foreseeable future.
She was named first team AVCA All-American in 2022 and is a two-time TCGA first team All-State selection (2021, 2022).
Nicholson dished out 3,274 assists over a four-year varsity run at McKinney North High School.
As a junior, she averaged 11.1 assists per set on her way to a career-high 1,080 dimes and first-of-two District MVP honors. Nicholson was also tabbed Setter of the Year by Dallas Morning News.
Nicholson played the role of both spiker and setter for McKinney North last fall, finishing with 753 assists, 409 digs and 319 kills. She was again crowned District MVP and was voted as Utility Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning News.
She helped her club team, Drive Nation, capture the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship as a freshman in 2018 and earn silver medals at the tournament in 2019 and 2021.Our 2022 AVCA High School First Team 𝑨𝒍𝒍-𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 🤫

Lydia Seymour | Middle Blocker | 6-3 | Justin, TX
The Horned Frogs landed their middle blocker in the class of 2023 in Seymour.
She amassed 352 kills and 122 total blocks at Northwest High School last fall on her way to District MVP and TCGA All-State and first team All-Area honors. Seymour was also chosen to the THSCA Volleyball Class 5A Elite Team and nominated for the VYPE Houston Player of the Year award.
Seymour first received All-District recognition in 2021, when she received second team recognition on the strength of a 110-kill, 34-block junior season.

Seymour excels in the classroom in addition to the volleyball court. She was named to the Academic All-District team all four years.
Megan Walsh | Libero / Defensive Specialist | Palos Verdes, CA
Walsh starred on the varsity courts for four seasons at Palos Verdes High School, leading the team to a CIF Southern California Regional D1 Championship and runner-up finish at the CIF Girls Volleyball State Championships.
She was honored as her conference's Co-Libero of the Year and earned All-District accolades during Palos Verdes' championship march. Walsh was also selected as a PrepVolleyball.com Academic All-American at season's end.
Her sport acumen is not solely limited to the volleyball court. Walsh also lettered four times in beach volleyball and played a season of varsity basketball as a freshman in 2019.SoCal ✈️ FWTX

Walsh's decision to play for TCU adds to her family's rich history at the institution. Her campus arrival this summer will mark the 11th consecutive year a member of her family has attended TCU. Her cousin, Daniel Walsh, was a four-year letter winner for TCU football from 2013-2017 and her older brother, Brendan, is a senior student.
