FORT WORTH – No. 8 TCU's rally fell two runs shy in a 10-8 loss to Florida State Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Brayden Taylor hit his second home run of the season, while Austin Davis ran his RBI streak to six games.
The Rundown
TCU opened the scoring in the first on a Kurtis Byrne RBI-single. A Karson Bowen RBI base knock in the second made it a 2-0 ballgame
Florida State tied the game in the fourth and took a 5-2 lead with a three spot in the fifth.
The Frogs responded with a solo home run off the bat of Brayden Taylor in the fifth. Bowen's second RBI-single in the sixth pulled the Frogs within one, 5-4, but a five spot in the seventh by Florida State widened the gap to six, 10-4.
Back-to-back walks in the seventh had the Frogs in business. Tre Richardson hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the first run of the inning and David Bishop doubled to pull the Frogs within four, 10-6.
Two more runs crossed the plate in the eighth on an Austin Davis double and a Taylor base hit, but that's as close as the Frogs would get as FSU retired the final five batters to lock up the series win.
