
TCU Opens Home Slate With Victory

FORT WORTH – TCU opened its home slate with a 7-3 win over UT Arlington Wednesday night at Lupton Stadium. Six different Horned Frogs registered an RBI in the game.
The Rundown
Cole Fontenelle's first home run of the season led off the second for TCU as the Frogs grabbed the early lead. Tre Richardson reached on an error and scored on a Karson Bowen base hit to extend the lead to 2-0 after two.
After UTA scratched across solo runs in the third and fourth to tie the game, TCU wasted little time regaining the lead. Fontenelle opened the fourth with a base hit and moved to third on a Richardson double. Fisher Ingersoll put the Frogs in front to stay with a sacrifice fly and Anthony Silva grounded out to make it a 4-2 game.
TCU broke open a close game with two runs in the sixth. Silva collected his second RBI of the night and Anthony Davis hit a sacrifice fly to push the lead to three, 6-3. TCU added an insurance run in the seventh on a Richardson double.
Braeden Sloan started for TCU and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in 3 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. Louis Rodriguez (1-0) picked up the win in relief, surrendering a run on three hits and striking out four in 2 2/3 innings. Cam Brown pitched a scoreless inning and Cohen Feser tossed two scoreless to close out the game.
