Bailey rushes for 150 yards, Hoover totals 5 touchdowns
NORMAN, Okla. – The TCU football team dropped a 69-45 decision at No. 13 Oklahoma on Friday afternoon.
Trailing 42-16 at the half, the Horned Frogs scored three touchdowns in a 7:12 span to pull within 52-38 with 39 seconds left in the third quarter. Emani Bailey's 32-yard scoring run was followed by a 3-yard touchdown pass from Josh Hoover to Jared Wiley just 2:37 later. A key play on the latter drive was a 30-yard completion from Hoover to Savion Williams on a 4th-and-10 at the Oklahoma 33.
Bailey's first career receiving score, on a 12-yard pass from Hoover, capped TCU's 22-point quarter. Hoover threw for four scores and 344 yards while adding a rushing touchdown.
Bailey posted his sixth 100-yard game of the season with 150 on 21 carries. His scoring run gave him a rushing touchdown in four straight games with a team-best eight on the year. His 1,209 yards place ninth for a season at TCU.
The first quarter foreshadowed an offensive shootout with 27 points scored, before the Sooners pulled away to avenge a 55-24 loss to the Horned Frogs last season.
Trailing 7-0 and taking advantage of a Namdi Obiazor recovery of a muffed punt by Oklahoma, TCU took possession at the Sooners 19. Four plays later, Hoover scored on a keeper from 3 yards out to cut the deficit to 7-6. It was his second straight game with a rushing touchdown.
The Horned Frogs pulled within 14-13 with 4:30 left in the first quarter on a 6-yard scoring toss from Hoover to JoJo Earle. It came just three plays after Earle had a career-long 48-yard reception to the Oklahoma 15, part of his personal-best 94 yards on four receptions.
