Fort Worth native happy to be home and representing TCU
(as told to Lily Margaret Greenway)
I'm always smiling, because no matter what setbacks you go through, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and another day to look forward to. I believe God guides everybody in their lives. All the things I have achieved have come from Him.
I work to be a positive guy who others can follow, but also someone they turn to when they need a laugh. I love to help people, especially my family and friends, and I definitely got my big heart from my mom. She always put her kids first and herself last. She's done everything for me. My family is right down the street, and I would choose spending time with them over anything else. It's a blessing that I no longer have to wait until holiday breaks to see them – they get to watch me play and I can visit them whenever I want.

I'm not the most talkative guy in the room, but my relationships with the people around me are what I value above all else. My big brother and mentor, Josh, is 10 years older than I am and really smart, so he's always who I go to when I need to talk. He's also the one who teaches me resilience and encourages me to keep going, no matter what adversity I go through. I've been playing football since I was 5 years old, and I keep going hard because of that little kid who worked to get here. Last year at Alabama, I broke my foot at fall camp right after coming off an injury from the year before. My injuries had me down, but also made me fight back a little more and taught me to keep my head in the right space. I learned to handle disappointment and stay positive with my eyes looking forward. I now pay more attention to my mental state, even over my physical state. Football is all about physicality, and being in the right mental space is what carries over into success in my physical abilities.
I grew up right down the street from TCU, so when I visited campus during my sophomore year of high school, it was an a-ha moment for sure. TCU was my choice coming out of high school, but I had a lot of people in my ear pushing me elsewhere. But I always knew that if I entered the transfer portal, TCU would be the school I would come back to. Once I arrived at TCU, Coach Kaz (Assistant Athletics Director for Human Performance Kaz Kazadi) opened my eyes to life beyond football in a way that I can't even begin to explain. He showed me how to think outside of the box, better my connections with people, and give into emotional flexibility. Now, I'm wearing a jersey with double ones, my favorite number, playing with my city on my back and TCU on my helmet. I want to show out for Fort Worth and all of my people.
