
TCU Sweeps Big 12 Rider of the Month Accolades

Smith, Guidi, Dukes and Medows are honored following dominant start to season
IRVING – The TCU equestrian team earned all four of the Big 12's first set of Rider of the Month awards, the league office announced Wednesday. TCU's honorees included Mattie Dukes in Horsemanship, Giorgia Medows in Reining, Laurel Smith in Flat and Franki Guidi in Fences.
Dukes received September NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Month accolades after going 2-0 against then-No. 1 SMU in both reining and horsemanship. The graduate student set a career-record high and secured the MOP in horsemanship with an 81 in the event.
Medows was named the MOP in reining against No. 1 SMU with a 76-74 win in the event. She is 2-0 on the season in both western events and rode her way to a career-high in horsemanship with an 80.5.
Smith added her eleventh win to her flat career with a win over her No. 1 SMU opponent 80-75. She had the highest TCU flat score and claimed the MOP accolade.
Guidi shined in her collegiate debut earning an 84 in fences against SMU's Taylor Madden.
TCU's four honorees, along with the rest of the Horned Frogs, will be back in action this Thursday, Oct. 5 taking on No. 5 Oklahoma State. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center.
