Graduate earns honor in Horsemanship
WACO, Texas – TCU equestrian's Mattie Dukes was named the NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Month, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced on Wednesday.
Dukes helped guide TCU to a 1-0 start to the season with a win over then-top-ranked SMU. She went 2-0 on the day in two different disciplines (Horsemanship, Reining) including a career-record breaking ride in Horsemanship. Dukes rode her way to the highest score of the day and the events MOP with an 81.
"A deserved award for a special rider," Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. "Mattie sets high standards for herself and the team. To see her start the season with a record score is just where she wants to be."
Dukes and the Frogs are set to travel to Stillwater, Okla. tomorrow to take on No. 5 Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.
